Target GroupOfficers maintaining their STCW Advanced Safety Training every five years.
ObjectiveUpdate the participants’ understanding and skill in safeguarding their own and others’ safety in an emergency situation, and contributing to safe behaviour. Upon completion, delegates should have maintained and updated their knowledge and skills within:
- Fire.
- Sea rescue.
- Medical first aid.
- In addition, the basic knowledge in fire protection, first aid and rescue techniques is repeated.
Course ContentsOne day will be through e-learning, and two days at the location you are booked on. Content and practical exercises outlined in the STCW-convention tables:
- A-VI/2-1
- A-VI/1-2
- A-VI/3
- A-VI/1-3
- A-VI/4-1
- Approved by STCW-78 with later amendments (Manila,2010).
- A-VI/1-1
PrerequisitesCourse delegates should have completed and passed training according to the advanced safety training rule VI/2 nr. 1, VI/3 and VI/4 nr. 1. This must be documented by a valid Certificate of Competence for officers (deck, electrical or machine) or a valid certificate from an advanced safety training for officers course. If the training has expired, delegates must document 12 months sea duty before 31.12.2016 with an approved certificate of competence. This is calculated 5 years back from the course start date. The theoretical part of the course is conducted through e-learning.
ExaminationWritten exam with a minimum of 75% correct answers.
